| Paycheck Weeks Overdue, Boss Dodging Taxes | |||||

| Dear Hank - I have worked for a small company for almost 10 years. For the last two years, my boss has been using the profits from his company for his personal spending. Electrical bills, courier bills, cable bills, office rent will go several months before being paid. And now, I am two weeks overdue a pay check. He told me, it would be only one week late, but this is the 2nd week and now I should have another payday this coming Friday. I don't know what to do. I need the money, I am afraid to quit, as I know the job market is slim right now. We are also part of a small industry, so if I was to look for a job, he would know it, as someone would tell him, as he knows everybody in our industry. He had also promised profit sharing, but I know he has put very little in for me. He earns the money, the company makes a profit, but he is spending everything. I also know he has not filed, either the business nor his personal income tax for the last two years.
I have never said anything to anybody about this. I guess it is because I have always been well paid,but now I feel I am stuck with no place to turn, but to wait for him to pay me. What should or can I do? | |||||

| If you had an honest boss, you could wait longer, trusting that you would be paid soon. But a dishonest boss will always screw you. It's up to you to decide how much you are willing to be screwed.
