Outlook Extension DLL Error
Question
I installed ACT! on my laptop. I think that is when Outlook started the problem saying it could not install the add-in "ActExt.dll". I uninstalled ACT!, reinstalled and same problem. I downloaded the dll and put it in my system 32 folder. I thought that would work but did not. You fixed my 100% CPU with Outlook problem so I'm hoping you can help with this. Thank you!
Answer
That can be caused by incorrect data in extend.dat, the file used to cache extensions for Outlook.
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Locate the extend.dat file using Search for Files and Folders.
  3. Rename the file to extend.old or extend.pleasework.
  4. Restart Outlook, and a new extend.dat file will be created with the correct data.
If the problem is solved, you can delete the old renamed file.
