| Connecting DVD Player to Antique TV | | Question | I have an old 1982 TV and I can't hook a DVD player up to it. A friend mentioned that they were able to buy a "box" that allowed them to plug the DVD into that. They described it as almost being like another plug outlet. Im trying to look something up on Radio Shack online but I have no idea what to look for. Do you have any idea what this person was talking about?
Janell Sidoti | | Answer | It would help to know the model of the TV, not just the year.
I will assume that either your DVD player or TV does not feature an RF connection. Otherwise, you could connect the two with a simple RF Cable. Thus, you most likely require an RF Modulator and/or a Matching Transformer. You may require one or both, depending on your available connection types.
The RF Modulator converts the yellow, red, and white AV lines to a single RF 75 Ohm coaxial line. The Matching Transformer converts a 75 Ohm coaxial line to 300 Ohm flat antenna leads.
The description of a box being an added plug outlet fits the RF Modulator.
