Connecting DVD Player to Antique TV
Question
I have an old 1982 TV and I can't hook a DVD player up to it. A friend mentioned that they were able to buy a "box" that allowed them to plug the DVD into that. They described it as almost being like another plug outlet. Im trying to look something up on Radio Shack online but I have no idea what to look for. Do you have any idea what this person was talking about?

Answer
It would help to know the model of the TV, not just the year.

I will assume that either your DVD player or TV does not feature an RF connection. Otherwise, you could connect the two with a simple RF Cable. Thus, you most likely require an RF Modulator and/or a Matching Transformer. You may require one or both, depending on your available connection types.

The RF Modulator converts the yellow, red, and white AV lines to a single RF 75 Ohm coaxial line. The Matching Transformer converts a 75 Ohm coaxial line to 300 Ohm flat antenna leads.

The description of a box being an added plug outlet fits the RF Modulator.
