| Will Grand Theft Auto 5 fit on DVD? | | Question | Rockstar said DVD is too small for there games. That's straight from the developers. Will Grand Theft Auto 5 be PS3 exclusive? Or will it come on Bluray for Xbox 360? Can they do something like install 2 DVDS on the hard drive like PC games?
I say Bluray. What do you think? | | Answer | Not everything said by developers is true or logical, especially when statements come from executives. Sometimes they don't know what they're talking about. Sometimes for business or financial reasons, they'll knowingly tell lies to either balance criticism for each platform or side with certain platforms. And sometimes, God forbid, they're just fanboys themselves like any other fanboy shouting on the Internet. You have a better chance at getting accurate statements from programmers and artists, but those can also be false.
It's up to the gamer to decide what's true, or you can just Ask Hank.
If the next GTA is developed for today's consoles:
- It will not be PS3 exclusive.
- It will come on DVD for Xbox 360 just like Grand Theft Auto IV.
- It will not require installation on Xbox 360. However, optional installation of some data on Xbox 360 for faster loading is possible.
- It will almost certainly fit on a single DVD for Xbox 360. DVD has proven to be large enough. If the game needs two discs, then the game will be split in two distinct sections or two cities. But if time and money is spent to create two cities each the size of Liberty City from GTA IV or larger, they can sell each one separately a year apart as two games.
The comments about disc space being an issue created many news articles and discussions on message boards about the next GTA. And Sony fanboys got excited like dogs barking at pedestrians. Maybe that was the goal.
